Contrary to what the name implies year-round schooling is not twelve months a year. Students in year-round schools attend school for the same number of days that students in traditional schools do. The main difference in scheduling is that year-round schools have a break approximately every six weeks, with breaks lasting anywhere from one week to five weeks.
The major benefit of year-round education is that it facilitates continuous learning as the students are not ever out of school for a long period of time. As a result, the students forget less over the shorter breaks, and teachers spend less time reviewing pre-vacation material.
Year-round schooling is a great option for those families that wish to travel throughout the year or have issues with childcare during the summer months.
